It's time to unite, Howard County.
It's time to come together for the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County's 67th Annual Campaign Kick-off Boots and Bling.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Big Spring Country Club. Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction, live music from Freeride, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets are $25.
â€śIt doesn't matter if you put on your tuxedo, a sundress or your boots and jeans. The main thing is to come out and support these agencies,â€ť said Jeanie Coor, outgoing executive director of United Way of Big Spring and Howard County.
The 2012 campaign will run Sept. 1 through Nov. 20, of this year with funds being designated and distributed to the agencies next year.
This year, the 14 agencies are the American Red Cross of Southwest Texas, Buffalo Trail Council Boy Scouts of America, CASA of West Texas, Dora Roberts Rehabilitation Center, Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest, Howard County Council on Aging Mobile Meals, Howard County Humane Society, Isaiah 58, Northside Community Center, Rape Crisis/Victim Services of Big Spring, The Salvation Army, Westside Community Day Care Center, YMCA of Big Spring, and the two new agencies â€” Big Spring Chaplains Association and Spring of Siloam.
The kickoff is first-come, first-serve, due to limited seating. Tickets for the evening can be purchased from any of the 22 board membersor at the United Way office between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Chamber of Commerce will also have tickets available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both offices are located at 215 W. Third St.
