Boyd Anderson

Boyd Anderson, 91, of Big Spring died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Westbrook, Texas. He married Edna Cate on March 21, 1942, in Stanton. She preceded him in death Sept. 1, 2012. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was in the 77th New York Infantry Division and his service included the Ryukyus Campaign, Guam, Ie Shemi and the invasion and securing of Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.

He graduated from the West Texas College of Mines, now the University of Texas at El Paso. He was a civil engineer for Morton Thikol, near Brigham City, Utah. He was a Southern Baptist.

He is survived by two daughters, Wyleen Anderson of Midland and Renee` Siddal of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Boyd Rae Anderson Jr. of East Berne, N.Y., and Bruce Anderson of Wallis, Texas; one sister; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
