Boyd Don Batla, 28, of San Antonio, Texas passed into eternity on Nov. 23, 2012, at his home. He was born April 18, 1984, in Rankin, Texas to Garry and Darla Batla.
Boyd was a proud graduate of Garden City High School, where he excelled in a variety of sports and other UIL activities. As a crowning high school accomplishment, Boyd earned the recognition of valedictorian for the class of 2002. He continued his education at Texas Tech University, where he graduated an avid Red Raider fan with academic honors added to his list of achievements.
Pursuing his ambition to become a physician, Boyd was immediately accepted into the school of medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio. He was anticipating with excitement to the Spring when he would begin his career as a resident anesthesiologist.
Jesus said that our love for one another will prove to the world that we are his disciples, and Boyd demonstrated this truth with a passion to love and serve others. His contagious smile came easily and could instantly brighten any circumstance. As a true Texan, Boyd enjoyed making music, hanging out with friends and deer hunting.
He is preceded in death by his aunt, Linda Batla Little, and cousin, Clinton Boyd.
Those remaining to cherish Boydâ€™s memory are a large loving family: parents, Garry and Darla Batla of St. Lawrence; sister, Misti Kay White and husband Delvin of Garden City; niece, Mâ€™Kynlee Kay Harland, who will lovingly remember him as â€śMY Uncle Boyd;â€ť sister, Kyndra Lee Batla of Garden City; the love of his life, Katie Liner of San Antonio; maternal grandparents, Roger and Iwanda Boyd of Abilene; paternal grandparents, Delmer and Marcie Batla of St. Lawrence; aunts and uncles, Roger and Deana Boyd of Odessa; Cathy and Steve Livingston, Mike and Denice Batla, Kenny and Vicki Batla, and Nancy and Mike Hillger, all of Garden City; Rich Little of Paint Rock; and Larry and Becky Batla and Richard and Carol Batla of St. Lawrence; and numerous cousins and friends from every season of his life.
Friends and family will be welcomed at visitation on Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Memorial services to honor the life of Boyd will be Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Big Spring with the Rev. Koby Abney officiating. Interment will follow at Garden City Cemetery in Garden City.
Pallbearers are Edward Alvarez, Keith Batla, Matthew Frysak, Anthony Hoelscher, Tony Lopez and Dr. Paul O'Leary.
