The building has gone up and the final stages of the project are in sight.

The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club was able to start construction on a new facility in February and is expecting the building to be completed sometime in October.

“We will be very excited to see it once it is finished and we are even more excited to move in,” Salvation Army Maj. Orville Chambless said.

Lee George Construction — contractor on the project — has working on the project to this point, according to Patsy Heckler, office manager at the Salvation Army. The construction is behind schedule due to the delivery of the materials being late.

“It was nothing the contractor could control. The material just happened to get here late which put the project behind schedule,” Heckler said. “To this point though we are very pleased with the work Lee George has been doing for us.”
