Brenda Mercer

Brenda Mercer, 68, Midland, passed away Nov. 8, 2012, in Midland after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Brenda was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Berkeley, Calif., to Hartman and Beth Hooser. After the war, her family moved to Waco while her father attended law school, then they moved to Big Spring in 1951. She lived in Big Spring most of her life before retiring to Midland. Brenda loved to read, go camping with her brother, shopping, traveling, but most of all being with her family and many, many friends.

Survivors include two sons, Britt Mercer and wife Monique and David Mercer and wife Virginia, all of Odessa; two step-sons, Pat Mercer of Austin, Mike Mercer and wife Jane of Jacksonville, Fla.; step-daughter, Beth Desilets and husband Donny of Odessa; a brother, DeLloyd Hooser and wife Mildred of Big Spring; a grandson, Josh Mercer of Midland; and a granddaughter, Erica Mercer of College Station.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister, Beverly Rice, and a sister, Carolyn Rzepniewski and husband John.
