Bruce Thomas, 63, of Big Spring died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Midland Memorial Hospital. A celebration of Bruceâ€™s life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Marvin Boyles Auto Service, 102 Young, next to Southwest Tool. Friends are asked to bring one food item.
Bruce was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Big Spring to Reba Beatrice and Edward J. Thomas. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. Bruce married Jenny Marie Murley, Dec. 31, 1976, in Big Spring. He was an A.S.E. certified mechanic, specializing in transmissions and Dodge products. Bruce began his automotive career at age 13 at Farris Pontiac. He later worked for Dewey Ray, O.I.L., Shroyer Motor Company, Highland Pontiac and Fiesta Dodge.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Jenny Thomas of Big Spring; two sons, Dan Thomas and wife Melissa of Big Spring and Mike Thomas and wife Stacy of San Angelo; his mother, Bea Mansfield of Big Spring; seven grandchildren, Zachary Daniel, Mallory Savannah, Faith, Josh, Lexie, Braden and Christopher; sister-in-law, Nancy Rychlyck of Midland; two nieces, Lisa Gayle and Lisa; four nephews, Justin, Richard, Ricky and Eddie; four honorary sons, Jaime, David, Jeffrey (Bubba) and James; and several close friends, like brothers. Marvin Boyles, Bob Daily and Mel Almazon.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, E.J. Thomas; two brothers, Eddie and Mike; and one sister, Reba White.
