BSEDC discusses policies, possible raise, other items

August 20, 2014

After wrestling once again with “policies and procedures” and getting virtually nowhere, Economic Development Corporation board members moved on to other business Tuesday evening.

Board members learned sales tax is up 3 percent. A 6 percent pay increase was discussed for EDC Secretary Teresa Darden. Board members seemed in agreement but the proposal was not on the agenda as an action item. Also discussed was a proposal to replace the roof on the Chamber of Commerce building which houses the Chamber, Convention and Visitors Bureau, EDC and United Way and repair the stucco on the structure. An upgrade for the website was also recommended by the Director Terry Wegman and could potentially cost $11,000.
