BSHS band headed to state competition

May 2, 2014

Members of the Big Spring High School honor band will participate in the University Interscholastic League wind ensemble contest this weekend in Austin.

This is the third time the Big Spring band has attended the contest, made up of the best public school bands in the state. According to band director Rocky Harris, to qualify the band must first earn a Division I rating at its regional UIL contest then submit an application to the state competition.

The contest is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and Big Spring will perform at 9:30 a.m.
