BSHS choir excels at contest

February 19, 2011

The Big Spring High School Choir had quite a medal haul at the recent University Interscholastic League Solo and Ensemble Contest in San Angelo.

Thirty BSHS students earned Division I ratings (the highest possible) during the contest, which was held at Angelo State University Feb. 5.

BSHS Choir Director Anna Castaneda O'Brien said 28 of those students qualified to compete in the State UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, which will be held at the University of Texas in Austin later this school year.

“I'm very proud of our kids' performances,” O'Brien said. “A judge told me they were the most exceptional students he'd seen all day.”
