BSISD to begin campus demolition

March 11, 2011

The first outward sign of Big Spring Independent School District construction projects will soon be evident.

During their Thursday meeting, BSISD trustees approved a bid of slightly less than $200,000 to demolish the old College Heights Elementary building, the first of a myriad of projects that will keep contractors and construction workers busy for most of the next two years.

Assistant Superintendent Danny Ferrell said asbestos abatement of the building should begin within two weeks. After that phase, actual demolition of the building will begin immediately. The project should be completed around mid-April, Ferrell added.
