Big Spring Independent School District officials were busily dousing rumors about a high school student bringing a gun to school this morning.
Assistant Superintendent Danny Ferrell said today any reports of that nature were categorically false.
"Any rumors about a student bringing a gun to school are false. Any rumors about a shooting at the school are false," Ferrell said. "We received an anonymous threat (Thursday) ... and extra security has been brought in to deal with that threat."
Ferrell declined to go into the exact nature of the threat, but stressed that students at the high school were safe.
"We are urging parents to keep their kids in school," he added.
