Big Spring Independent School District spellers are hoping seven is a very lucky number this weekend.

BSISD will be represented by seven youngsters when they participate in the Scripps-Howard Regional Spelling Bee, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday on the Midland College campus.

The seven students qualified for Saturday's event by winning spelling contests at their respective campuses, said Robin Ritchey, BSISD spelling bee coordinator.
