BSJH sets new records at Pecos swim meet

Big Spring Junior High plunged right into the Jr. High Swim season in Pecos this past Saturday Feb. 3, 2018. With four guys, the Steers captured a 6th place finish in the team standings. The Lady Steers finished 3rd overall. Altogether, the girls team set four new Big Spring Jr. High school records. The relay of Camilia Rodriguez, Averielle Nuno, Naomi Reyes and Chloe Ashcraft broke the Girls 200 Medley Relay record with a new time of 2:52.88.
Averielle Nuno broke her own school record in the 50 free, setting a new record of 34.16. Naomi Reyes broke the school record for the girls 50 butterfly with a time of 35.14. Reyes also broke the school record in the Girls 500 free with a time of 8:23.32. According to swim coach Randall Shaw, this was a great start to what looks like will be an amazing season. The steer and lady steer swim teams will compete in Odessa on March 24th.
