Buffaloes collide

October 27, 2011

The future of the Forsan Buffaloes is sitting calmly in their own hands. This week, the 5-3 Buffaloes (2-2 in district) will take on Stanton in a clash of area teams looking to distance themselves from the herd and make the playoffs.

Idalou and Coahoma have already clinched a place at the table, though who gets to say grace will not be determined until the two teams finally meet Nov. 4.

It would be easy to look past Stanton for Forsan head coach Jason Phillips — and look at next week's match-up with Hawley (2-2) — but the Forsan helmsman knows better.

“Stanton always has a tough, physical group,” Coach Phillips said. “We aren't looking past anyone. Our playoffs start right now, this week.”
Stanton, a team plagued by injuries this season, will be relying on the legs of Andres Chavez and Tim Anderson to do their talking for them. When the two teams clash Friday night. The pair combined for 223 yards in Stanton's 45-20 win against Post last week.

Meanwhile, Forsan is coming off of back-to-back losses at the hands of Coahoma and Idalou and will be looking to bounce back.

“We are considering this game a must-win,” Coach Phillips said. “We have added a few wrinkles which might help us against a team like Stanton, somethings they have not seen us do.”
