FORSAN â In their third straight game against a 2A opponent, the Class A Buffaloes (2-3) and Head Coach Jason Phillips is ready play a team in their division. Most recently, it was Crane who blasted Forsan 43-2 Friday.
Already dealing with injuries, the Buffs sustained even more against the undefeated Cranes, who boasted not only a depth advantage, but a size advantage over the smaller school.
Despite the lopsided score, Phillips saw a few good things from his ailing squad.
âWe thought we had a better chance of moving the ball, but we did a good job at times, especially on defense,â Phillips said. âWe were making tackles on guys who outweighed us by 50 pounds or more.â
The only points the Buffaloes were able to score came in the second quarter when Kade Fannin blocked an extra point attempt and Polo Morin picked up the ball and ran it into the end zone.
Now trying to regroup, Phillips is focused on letting his squad heal after a three-game skid.
âWe are going to work this week on getting healthy,â he added. âOur kids bounce back very quickly. They have a short memory and we're proud of them for that. They will be bruised up this morning, but they will come out next week ready to play and excited for the next game."
Forsan will make the trek to Sundown (2-3) on Friday.
Phillips refrained from speculating on his players' injuries until he has more information, though he said he would be willing to discuss it more detail in the days to come.View more articles in:
