Cad H. Wingert

August 6, 2013

Cad H. Wingert, 87, of Big Spring died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Gainesville, Texas, to a band of circus folk. He joined the United States Navy in 1944 and served his country proudly through the end of World War II. Upon his return, he enrolled at Texas Christian University to pursue a degree in mathematics before beginning what would become a 45-year career in aerospace engineering.

During his career, he most notably worked to produce the B-1 bomber and several space shuttles for NASA. He also found love, marrying Margaret Partridge, mother to his children, a marriage that lasted for 30 years. Then July 3, 1979, he remarried — this time to Anne Harrison. He retired from the Rockwall Institute before moving to Big Spring in the summer of 1992.

Cad Wingert is survived by his loving wife, Anne of Big Spring; his two sons, William Wingert of Farmers Branch and Chris Wingert and wife Karen of Abilene; his grandchildren, Brian Wingert and wife Amanda of Big Spring, Crystal Hutchinson and husband Michael of Colliersville, Tenn., Kelly Wingert and John Stewart, both of Big Spring; and several great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Spring Humane Society, P.O. Box 823, Big Spring, Texas 79721-0823.

Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences can be made at:
