Calvin ‘Rusty’ Hamilton

Calvin “Rusty” Hamilton, 79, of Big Spring died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Wilson, pastor of Baptist Temple Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Howard County, Texas, to Gladys and Bob T. Hamilton. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from Feb. 2, 1956, until May 31, 1962. He married Velda Ray Bates Bristow on Aug. 3, 2002, in Big Spring. He was a transport truck driver for Tommy Gage Oil Company. He was a member of Baptist Temple Church.
He is survived by his wife, Velda Hamilton of Big Spring; one son, Monte Hamilton of Burnet; one daughter, Teresa Hamilton of Fort Worth; one step-daughter, Lorri Martin and husband Alan of Germany; two step-sons, Burke Bristow and wife Kim of Lawton, Okla., and Brandon Bristow and wife Clarie of San Antonio; one sister, Betty Jean Burcham of Brownwood; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Opal Moore, Margaret Hungerford and Elizabeth O’Shields; and one brother, Robert Hamilton.
