Calling all sweethearts.
Canterbury is having its eighth annual Senior Sweetheart Dance tonight from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the public area at the Canterbury South building.
â€śThis is a great opportunity for the residents to have their family come out and see where they are living,â€ť Executive Director Shannon Nabors said. â€śIt also provides an opportunity for the residents to go dance, have fun, hear some good music and not have to worry about driving back at night.â€ť
Each year, according to Nabors, Cantrbury hosts two dances.
RC, described as an old favorite by Nabors, will be providing the entertainment for the dance.
â€śHe plays a little bit of country, rock and roll and gospel. He plays a little bit of everything and he really puts on a good show,â€ť Nabors said.
There is no admission to the dance and all community members are invited to attend. Nabors said the senior citizens of the community are really encouraged to participate.
â€śThis is a great time for the residents to spend time with their loved one and at the same time, allows the community to come and see what Canterbury has to offer,â€ť Nabors said. â€śThis is when the residents get the chance to meet new friends and see old friends they havenâ€™t seen in awhile.â€ť
