Carl Bradley, 85, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Robertson and the Rev. Bill Ivins officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Hughes Springs, Texas, and married Joyce Howard on June 20, 1959.

Carl had lived in Mineral Wells before moving to Big Spring more than 50 years ago. He was a proud graduate of University of Texas and a veteran of the United States Navy. He had worked for Caldwell Electric, which later became his own company, Bradley Supply. He was a member of the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce and was named Man of the Year for 2008.

Carl was a charter member of the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club, had been named Rotarian of the Year in the past and had the Rotarian of the Year Award renamed the Carl Bradley Service Award in his honor. He had received numerous awards for his work with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Shriners and Masons. He was very active in his community and generous with his time.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Bradley of Big Spring; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Parrish and Delores Currie, both of Big Spring; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Letha Bradley; two sisters, Mildred Wren and Dorothy Smith; and one brother, William Bradley.

The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
