Carolyn H. Hanson, 81, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Dudley Mullins officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the funeral home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Howard County and married Bill Hanson Aug. 26, 1950, in Odessa. He preceded her in death March 26, 2002.
Carolyn worked for Bell Telephone for 14 years, at the state hospital for 14 years and had owned and operated Cacky's Shoe Store for four years. She had also worked as the bookkeeper for her husband's trucking company for 53 years.
Survivors include her grandson, Britt Hanson and his girlfriend Natalie Travis of Osage Beach, Mo.; her daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Roni and Robert Dutro of Leavenworth, Kan.; special friends, Drue Wyrick and Jack and Katie Cathey, all of Big Spring; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David Hanson and Mark Hanson.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Heritage Museum of Big Spring, 510 Scurry, Big Spring, Texas or the American Lung Association, 8150 Brookriver Dr., Suite S-102, Dallas, Texas 75247.
