“Progress in motion” needs some motion in its progress.
The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce 2013 Man and Woman of the Year banquet is slated for Monday, Feb. 3 and nominees are needed soon, according to Executive Director Debbye ValVerde.
“We haven't received any nominees yet and we need them soon because the banquet is right around the corner.”
ValVerde said there have been numerous suggestions and phone calls, but no official nominations have been made.
“People have called and given me suggestions,” the executive director said. “And that's great, but we really need our members to make it official.”
Nominations must be made by a chamber member who is in good standing. The entries then go before a committee that chooses the winners. Nominees for Man and Woman of the year do not have to be Chamber members, however.
“They can be anybody in the community,” said ValVerde. “But they don't have to be members of the Chamber.”
Last year's winners were Gloria McDonald and Howard Stewart.
