Chamber series to offer educaion on Big Spring

It's all about education and communication.

The Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce is trying something a little different. This year, a state of the Community Series luncheon will take place in four parts, with the first part at noon, March 29 at the Dora Roberts Community Center. The entire series is aimed at educating local residents about the community, by hearing from the entities involved.

“There are so many entities that play a big part and we thought it was time to bring them to the forefront,” said Debbye ValVerde, Chamber executive director.

The first part of the series is titled “Money at Work” and will include presentations from the city of Big Spring, Howard County, Colorado River Municipal Water District, Howard College and the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation. According to ValVerde, the new format will allow the entities to update everyone on their current activity and plans for the future. The luncheon is sponsored by the Big Spring Convention and Visitors Bureau.
