Charles W. 'Mo' Utley

Charles W. "Mo" Utley, 94, of Big Spring, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Raul Garcia, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Coahoma, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at the funeral home.

He was born April 10, 1919, in Oran, Mo. and married Jessie Thomas Sept. 15, 1945, in Brownwood, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. During that time, he served as a crew chief on a B-24 during World War II, served in Korea during the Korean War and served in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After retiring from the Air Force, "Mo" worked for Steer Tank Lines for 22 years.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church in Big Spring and most recently attended First United Methodist Church in Coahoma.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Sue Keller and husband, John of Big Spring; a son, John L. Utley and wife, Fredye of Paducah; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 50, Coahoma, Texas 79511.
