Graveside services for Charlie Everts, 81, of Lamesa, will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Lamesa Memorial Park with Brian Pinkerton officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Charlie passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born May 11, 1932, in Martin County to Dave and Ida (Smith) Everts. Charlie married Judy Airhart June 7, 1967, in Lamesa.

He was raised on a ranch in Martin County and he enjoyed horses and cattle. Charlie served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 where he was stationed state-side and operated heavy equipment. He farmed in Dawson and Martin Counties for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Everts of Lamesa; children, Sharlot Stone and husband, Jess of Gail, Sherry Ann Everts of Lubbock, Cindy Waters of Brookshire, Kathy Preckett and husband, Sam of El Paso, and Sherye Kaye O’Neal of Arlington; brother, Ellis Ray Everts and wife, Annie of Pattison; four grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents.
