Charlie Voight, 92, of Big Spring died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ivins officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at the funeral home.

He was born June 21, 1919, in Spofford, Texas, and married Roberta Cass on Aug. 2, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1991.

Charlie served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1941 to 1961. After retiring from the military he worked in food service at the Big Spring State Hospital. Charlie lived in Big Spring from 1961 to 1980, and returned to Big Spring in 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Rainey of Midland; one son and daughter-in-law, Charlie Jr. and Vera Voight of Schertz; two brothers, Orbin Voigt and William Voigt, both of Lockhart; one sister, Helen Franks of Dale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Walter Voight; one daughter, Katherine Young; a grandson; two brothers, Walter Voigt and Clifton Voigt; and two sisters, Gladys Bowling and Luella Duran.

The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
