Lauren Chesworth and Eric Barber, both of Big Spring, were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28, 2010, at College Baptist Church with Calvary Callendar, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating the double-ring ceremony. Tim and Jennifer Ortman, music ministers at the First Church of the Nazarene, provided the music during the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Pat and Candy Chesworth of Big Spring and the granddaughter of the late Stephen and Maxine Forshee and the late Jim and Sylvia Chesworth.
The groom is the son of Bobby and Cheryll Barber of Big Spring and the grandson of Billy Barber and the late Bennie Barber and Nancy Rakosky of Atlanta, Ga. He is the great-grandon of Roy Word of Big Spring.
The aisle and entrance way into the sanctuary were decorated with ivory tulle with red gerbera daisies and yellow sunflower pomanders. The couple stood before large vases of flowers graced with red gerbera daisies, yellow sunflowers, green button mums, miniature red gerbera daisies, miniature sunflowers and fern greenery.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant strapless ivory pick-up gown which featured a pleated bodice with delicate beading at the empire line. The A-line kirt fell gracefully to the floor into a chapel-length train. The bride completed her ensemble by wearing an ivory bird-cage veil with was scattered with rhinestones and crystals.
The bride entered the ceremony to the music of "Canon in D." She carried a fresh cut, round bouquet of red gerbera daisies and yellow sunflowers which was wrapped in a rhinestone band.
Jordan Chesworth of San Angelo, the bride's sister, served as maid of honor. Robin Wheeler of Brownwood, a sorority sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Danielle Snyder and Amanda Clark, sorority sisters of the bride; Samantha Newton; and Nicole and Krista Chesworth, cousins of the bride. Each attendant wore a short black halter dress and carried either sunflowers or red gerbera daisies. Each bouquet was wrapped in pearls.
Chance O'Daniel of Big Spring served as best man. Groomsmen were Ricky Crawford, Rusty Crawford, Jesse Metcalf, Donnie Allen and Jake Smith, all of Big Spring, and Cody Quintana of Midland.
The groom, best man and groomsmen all wore black tuxedos highlighted with ivory ties. The broom's boutonniere consisted of a miniature red gerbera daisy and sunflower. The groomsmen wore either a red gerbera daisy or sunflower boutonniere matching the attendant they escorted.
Kayla Smith, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl and wore and ivory, ankle-length dress accented with an ivory colored sash and bow and ivory sequined ballet slippers. A headdress crown of baby's breath and miniature roses with ivory ribbon was also worn. She carried a silk basket with red and yellow rose petals.
Travis Smith, a great nephew of the bride, was ringbearer and wore a tuxedo matching that of the groom.
Stetson Word and Timmy Huitt, both cousins of the groom; Brian Chesworth, a cousin of the bride; and Toby Rodgers served as ushers.
The registry table was decorated with an arrangement of red gerbera daisies and sunflowers along with a candelabra reflecting the couple's initials on the ivory candles. Completing the registry table was a fireman's hatchet and large vase which held bubbles for each guest.
Wedding guests were greeted at the registry table by Amber Stokes.
During the ceremony the couple and their parents participated in a sand ceremony. Gary Phillips performed the sand ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the bride and groom arrived at Dora Roberts Community Center on a fire truck for a reception hosted by the bride's parents. The reception included a dinner catered by Hog Heaven Barbecue and a dance with live music provided by The Brian Milson Band, in which the groom's father is a member. Additional music was provided by deejay Jim Koerber.
The reception was designed in a black and white theme with each table decorated with red and yellow flower accents and multi-heighth votive candles. This combined with classic white chair covers adorned with black ribbon completed with elegant look.
Guests enjoyed a nacho and margarita bar while waiting for the wedding party to arrive, as well as the candy bar. The candy bar was decorated with the bride and groom's favorite candy in clear jars and bowls.
The bride's cake was a butter cream, four-tiered, square-shaped cake with each tier a different flavor. Fresh gerbera daisies and sunflowers cascaded down the sides. The couple's initials completed the bride's cake. The groom's cake was made to resemble a fireman's helmet including the groom's name, badge number and logo of BSFD. The cake set atop a yellow fire hose. The couple cut the groom's cake with a small fire hatchet. Mexican wedding cookies, made by Maria Saracho, completed the groom's table. Both cakes were made by Audrey's in Sand Springs.
Following their honeymoon in Mexico, the couple is making their home in Big Spring.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Big Spring High School and 2007 graduate of Howard Payne University. She is employed with the state of Texas.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Coahoma High School and a 2004 graduate of Howard College. He is employed with the city of Big Spring as a firefighter/EMT.View more articles in:
