COAHOMA — Big Red is having a homecoming.

Bonfires, pep rallies and coronations are the highlights of this week's 2012 homecoming celebration at Coahoma High School.

Activities kicked off with themed dress-up days at the school, then hit high gear with Wednesday night's bonfire west of the football stadium.
But the really big events will be held Friday, school officials say.

Activities begin with the homecoming pep rally scheduled for 3 p.m. in the high school gym, then shift to the football stadium, where the Bulldogs will face Ballinger at 7:30 p.m.

Prior to the game, the school will announce its Football Sweetheart and Football Hero, then the 2012 homecoming queen will be announced at halftime.

This year's queen candidates are: Devine Martin, daughter of Walter and Laura Martin; Tobi Robinson, daughter of Patric and Sherry Robinson; Jasmin Callejas, daughter of Reyna Olivarez; Shea Campbell, daughter of Robert and Stacie Campbell; and Laurel Nix, daughter of Ron and Angel Brooks.

After the game, a homecoming dance will be held until 1 a.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.
