College to celebrate milestones

September 29, 2011

Consider it two celebrations in one.

Howard College will celebrate two important milestones Friday — the 65th anniversary of the first day of classes at the institution and the official completion of a multi-year, $23 million campus renovation.

Building dedications, tours and an address from a former HC student who went on to become one of the top educators in Texas will highlight the Friday observance.

“September 30 has always been a special day in Howard College's history,” College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks said. “The significance of the first opportunity to deliver education has great meaning to us. That's what we're all about — the reason Howard College exists is to support students.”
