College officials laud renovation outcome

Who says $21 million doesn't buy anything anymore?

As contractors reach the final phases of Howard College's $21 million campus renovation, officials are taking pride in the fact they were able to deliver on every project they envisioned.

In fact, they've done even more than originally planned.

A “perfect situation” of ideal economic factors — and just a little bit of luck — during the past few years combined to help workers complete even more projects than college officials promised when the construction bond was approved by voters in 2008.

The multi-year renovation project is expected to be completed in time for the college's 65th anniversary celebration Sept. 30, College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks said.
