Crossroads residents will get a chance to laugh — and, more importantly, for a good cause — Saturday, as the local comedy troupe the Goondock Saints will present an evening of laughter and entertainment to benefit the local volunteer fire department.
With doors at the Hog Heaven Party Barn — located on W. Highway 80 — set to open Saturday at 7 p.m., Goondock Saints founder Clay “Goonie” Vickers said the show will offer those attending a chance to relax and enjoy some big-city humor.
“In the 12 years that I have been here, I have never heard of a comedy show actually being put on in Big Spring,” Vickers said. “So this show is actually kind of ground breaking. Ever since we started our group in 2005, people from Big Spring have been begging us to perform here, mainly because we have only done shows in bigger cities like Austin, Dallas and San Antonio. And that’s because we knew how hard it would be to put on an event here in town because there is really no venue for it. After all the recent success we have been having, however, we believe that our hometown deserves a show.”
