Cook-off to benefit WTC Children in Need fund
Chili, not chilly.
The weather forecast for Saturday's West Texas Centers Children-In-Need chili cook-off calls for sunny skies and a high temperature in the low 70s — balmy for winter standards.
Organizers are hoping the good weather brings out the cooks and the “tasters” to this year's event, the ninth annual benefit, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3188.
“The chili cook-off is well-organized and competitive, which is important to the chili cooks,” said Landon Sturdivant, West Texas Centers chief operating officer. “It’s also a great deal of fun and easy-going enough for people who have never tried it before. We try to make it a comfortable family friendly event for everyone.”
It's also inexpensive. For cooks, the fee is $10 per two-person team. For everyone else, entry is $5 which allows them the opportunity to test all the chili available for judging.
