Cosme A. Ramirez Sr., 74, of Big Spring, died Jan. 8, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born to Margarita and Pablo Ramirez in Big Spring on Sept. 7, 1939. He married Rosa Parras in June 1959, in Big Spring and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He was a self-employed contractor in Howard County. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and an avid Texas Rangers fan. He loved taking care of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years Rosa Parras of Big Spring; three sons: Cosme P. Ramirez Jr. and wife Julie, Julian P. Ramirez Sr. and wife Gloria and John Paul P. Ramirez and wife Ann Marie all of Big Spring; two daughters: Presilia R. “Prissy” Rodriguez and husband Raymon Sr. and Marisla Flores, also of Big Spring; grandchildren: Crystal Marie Ramirez and her husband Dray, M’kaylyn Marie A. Ramirez, Felicia Marie, Marilyn Marie, Lucinda Flores and her husband Isaac Chavarria, Lena Miramontes and her husband David, Lisa Flores, Laurie Flores and her husband Donnie Cervantes, Margarita Ramirez, Julian Ramirez Jr. and his wife April, Esequiel Flores Jr. and his wife Mona, Jessica Ramirez, Elias Ramirez, Cosme Ramirez III, Jimmy Gomez and his wife Juley, Liz Anderson and her husband Jimmy, Jessica Martinez and her husband Bernabe and Roseanna Keefer and her husband Ryan; great-grandchildren, Lea, Andrea, Baylyn, Raymond Jr., Maria, Caasi, Issac Jr., Alissa, Adam, Amador, McKayla, Faith, Jay, Christopher, Joshua, Summer, Johnny, Teresa, Mariah, Akire, Erika, Dallas, Ian Michael, Acelyne May, Brandi, Esequiel III, Cruz, Maria, Crystal, Elias Jr., Cheryl, Jamie, Ashley, Melony and her husband Fabian, Chris and his wife Mary Jane, Jonathan, Josh, Darren, Genaro, Elissa, Jasmine, Elijah, Isaiah, Anakin, Atticus, Andyn Jayce and Zachery and great-great-grandchildren: Ashley, Genesis, Julissas, Braden, Mason, Peyton, Malori, Zoe and Ray Lynn along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cruz R. Miramontes; one sister, Juanita Marquez; one brother, Pablo Ramirez Jr.; one grandchild, Destiny Payne; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Arenivaz and Nathaniel Alexandar Vincent.
