Council to address contracts

March 11, 2013

Big Spring City Council will meet Tuesday to discuss a number of agenda items, including contracts with a number of firms for consulting services.
In new business, the council is expected to consider approval of an amendment to the John Crane Productions Solutions Inc. lease agreement and authorize the city manager or his designee to execute any necessary documents.
The council is also to consider approval of an agreement with company Maximus for cost allocation consulting services, according to city officials, and allow the city manager or his designee to execute the agreement.
Approval of an inter-local agreement with other local government entities for joint bidding and engineering management for the 2013 seal coat project will also be up for consideration, as is a contract with engineering firm Parkhill, Smith & Cooper for the same project.
All three agreements and the amendment to the John Crane Production Solutions Inc. lease will be heard by the council only one time — most agenda items require a first and second reading before being approved — because they are for contractual services.
Also, the council is to approve final reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 20of the Code of Ordinances in order to adopt the 2012 editions of the International Code Council building codes and the 2011 edition of the National Electrical Code.
According to city officials, the update is something that is done periodically.
The council is to offer final approval of the McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark Development Board meeting minutes from Jan. 24.
Tuesday's meeting will get under way at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, located at 307 E. Fourth St. For more information call 264-2401. Also, a complete copy of the meeting agenda can be found online at www.mybigspring.com
