Let's all go to the fair.
Gates open at 5 p.m. today for the annual event, which concludes Saturday evening.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children between 6 and 12 years old. Children younger than 5 are admitted free. As a way of honoring the Marion Newton family, the fair will be donating $1 per ticket from today's gate admissions to the American Heart Association.
âHe (Marion) was instrumental in starting the antique tractor show and pull and this is a great way to honor him and his family,â John Paul Nichols, Howard County Fair publicity director, said.
School tours started today off from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the fair and carnival open to the public at 5 p.m. A domino tournament and cooking demonstration will begin at 6 p.m. The entertainment tent will host three gospel bands â Trinity Trio, Spring Creek Fellowship and Crystal River â starting at 7 p.m.
Friday, there will be an ice cream social and bingo at 1 p.m. with more cooking demonstrations at 6 p.m. and square dance demonstrations at 7 p.m. Noel Olivas band will be performing under the entertainment tent from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Crabtree Carnival is returning with the fair. Admission to the carnival is included with the admission to the fair, but wristband and ride tickets will be purchased separately at the carnival. The carnival will open at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday nights and 4 p.m. Saturday and remain open until 10 p.m. all three nights.
In addition to the carnival, there will be a mechanical bull, bounce houses and an inflatable pirate ship for the younger children.
âPlease come out and see what our vendors have to offer. There are a wide array of items to look through,â Nichols said. âOf course, don't forget the fair food. There will be lots of great food to enjoy and plenty of activities for the entire family to take part in.â
