cross country team has four runners in top 10

LUBBOCK — The Big Spring Steers cross country team made an impressive showing at the Lubbock Invitational meet this weekend, with three boys and one of the girl runners finishing in the top 10.

Junior Gustavo Lugo finished in fourth place with a time of 17:12.6 to claim the top spot among the Big Spring runners. Mike Williams and Thomas King finished in eighth and ninth place, respectively with times of 17:35.7 and 17:38.5, while Jaycee Williams was the top girls finisher for the Steers, coming in 10th place with a time of 13:38.6.

Sophomore Nathan Jimenez came in at number 39 with a time of 19:36.0 and freshman Mason Ford had a time of 21:24.0 for the final Big Spring boys finisher at spot number 70.

Big Spring's boys team finished in fifth place overall,with a time of 1:33:27.0.

Big Spring's girls finished in eighth place overall with an average time of 34:52.0. Freshman Karina Alvarado had a time of 14:06.2 to claim place number 21, while Lili Alvarado,Vicky Sotelo and Mika Mendez all came in with times between 48:36 and 49:04.
