Dale Gene Zant, 86, of New Home, Texas, left this earth July 9, 2013, to be with his Heavenly Father.
Dale was born April 13, 1927, to H.N. and Zona Zant in Clauene, Texas. He was the oldest of seven boys. He married Ethellynn Gill on Nov. 27, 1946. They were blessed with four children during their 61 years of marriage. Dale served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Belleau Wood.
He was a member of the New Home Church of Christ, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the Wilson Lions Club, Lynn County ASCS, Soil Conservation and Federal Land Bank boards, as well as the Wilson School board and Wilson Coop Gin. Dale was a well respected and much beloved member of the New Home, Wilson and Tahoka communities.
Dale was an avid Texas A&M and Texas Tech Red Raider fan, as well as a diehard New Home Leopards fan. He loved watching the sporting events and other activities that his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in over the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Leland Zant and wife Susan of New Home; two daughters, Karen Cook and husband Coy of Midland and Renea Zant of Follett; seven grandchildren, Tâ€™auna Ramsey and husband Brett of Big Spring, Lanny Zant and wife Cindi of New Home, Shannon Zant and wife Crystal of New Home, Maranda Ribera and husband Rick of Spicewood, Shane Zant and wife Ashlie of Lorena, Lora Ferguson of Portales, N.M., Jenny Ferguson of Garland; 11 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kincade and Zona Ramsey, Karson and Reagyn Zant, Jaxxon and Maddox Zant, and Averie, Kallie and Charlie Zant; four brothers, Dudley Zant of Paris, Joe Don Zant and wife Dena Bell of Vealmoor, Rex Zant and wife Patsy of Ackerly, and Warren Zant and wife Anna of Westbrook; as well as numerous friends and additional family.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Ethellynn; parents, H.N. and Zona Zant; brothers, Max Zant and Cates Zant; and son, Raymond Zant.
Memorials may be made to the Lubbock Childrenâ€™s Home, Sunset International Bible Institute, Green Memorial Cemetery in Wilson, Blue Haven Youth Camp or New Home PTO.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.â€“8 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka. Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at New Home Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Green Memorial Park Cemetery in Wilson, Texas.
