David Cortez Chavarria

David Cortez Chavarria, 57, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Visitation and viewing will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

He was born Oct. 22, 1955, in Adrian, Michigan to Benita and Bruno Chavarria. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1975 until 1978, serving in the Infantry-Recon. He moved to Big spring in 1978. He worked as a welder, also at Burger King and Jiffy Car Wash. He was a Catholic.

He is survived by one son, Matthew Chavarria of Lubbock; two daughters, Brittney Chavarria of Lubbock and Bessy Kirkpatrick of Killeen; two brothers, Robert Alex Chavarria of Pampa and Bruno Cortez Chavarria of Big Spring; three sisters, Mary Rocha and Annette Chavarria, both of Seminole and Carynen Gonzales of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Albert Chavarria and Rolando Chavarria.
