Deborah Evans, 63, of Big Spring, died Sunday Feb. 9, 2014, at San Angelo Community Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Pastor William T. Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born to Dorothy and Jasper McGruder in Boston, Mass., Oct. 1, 1950. She lived in Big Spring for more than 45 years, coming from San Antonio. She worked for the Big Spring Herald as advertising manager until retiring because of a medical disability. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Hilary Payne of Big Spring; two sons, Dennis Hartfield and wife V of Savannah, Texas , Vincent Payne of Tempe, Ariz.; one daughter, Dawn Hartfield and husband Alex of Big Spring; two brothers, Kenneth McGruder and David McGruder, both of Big Spring, two sisters: Jacqueline Wilson of Chicago, Ill., and Beverly Easley of Dallas; and five grandchildren, Ebony Hartfield, Jamal Hartfield, Elliana Hartfield, Alex Minter and Autumn Minter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Richard McGruder.
