Dewey Byers, 78, of Big Spring died Friday, March 15, 2013, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Mona Lue Tonn officiating.

He was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas, and attended Big Spring schools, graduating in 1954. He worked for the City of Big Spring for 34 years, retiring as chief inspector.

Survivors include two brothers, Melvin Byers and wife Shirley of Siloam Springs, Ark., and James Byers and wife Laverne of Kingsland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cleo Byers; and two sisters, Bonnie Melton and Janetta Whetsel.
