Don’t forget annual events associated with 80th rodeo

June 13, 2013

Crossroads area residents are invited to participate in some annual events that take place alongside the Big Spring Reunion and Rodeo, which is scheduled June 20-22 at the local Rodeo Bowl.
On Tuesday, June 18, Heritage Museum will hold its popular Legends and Legacies fundraiser from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the museum grounds. Those planning to go will need to RSVP no later than Friday.
Tickets are $30 per person and $55 per couple. The price includes fish and chicken cuisine, beer and wine and $1,500 in “fun” money to be used in a casino event featuring black jack, craps and roulette.
There will be a cash giveaway for $5 a ticket. Winners can receive $1,000, $500 and $100 (first, second and third).
For more information or to RSVP, call the museum at 432-267-8255.
Then, on Saturday, June 22, Heritage Museum will be the scene for the 89th annual Howard-Glasscock Old Settlers Reunion.
The reunion is designed to give old friends an opportunity to get together and catch up on what’s going on, as well as tell tall tales about the past.
Running from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Old Settler’s Reunion will feature a dessert auction and a free meal of hamburgers, chips and cobbler. Drinks are $1 each.
Each year, two pioneer families are recognized. To be honored in 2013 are the Barnett family from Howard County and the Cypert family from Glasscock County.
Heritage Museum is located at 510 Scurry in Big Spring.
