Douglas Eugene Beams

Douglas Eugene Beams, 92, of Floresville, formerly of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, in Floresville. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Greenville, Miss., to Blanche and Douglas Eugene Beams Sr. He married Estelle Mayes on April 18, 1946, in El Paso and she preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1995.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Big Spring Bombardier School during World War II. He returned to Big Spring in 1946 and was an electrician, primarily in construction. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Douglas Edward Beams of San Antonio; and one brother, David Beams and wife Laverne of Jackson, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son, Douglas Eugene Beams III.
