Dr. Bill T. Chrane, 82, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.
He was born Aug. 7, 1929, to Ann and B.T. Chrane in Dudley, Taylor County, Texas. He grew up in Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School at the age of 15.
He was valedictorian at Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio. While in San Antonio, he owned and operated his own construction business and worked for the railroad while also attending school. He also helped his mother run a local downtown diner.
When he returned to Big Spring from San Antonio in 1957, he opened his first chiropractic office, practicing for nine years. He reopened his chiropractic office in 1986. In addition to being a chiropractor, he and his son, Steve, owned and operated Bill Chrane Auto, Boat, Marine and R.V. Center.
Later, he owned and operated Downtown Car Wash until his death. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Pythias. He enjoyed golfing, fishing trips with his buddies and trips to Ruidoso. He was a member of First Baptist Church
He is survived by two sons, Tom Chrane and wife Rita of North Carolina and Steve Chrane of Big Spring; four daughters, Caren Clackum and husband Bill of Nevada, Sharon Wilkinson of Big Spring, Carla Ray and husband Steve of North Carolina and Cindy Chrane Casper of Big Spring; 10 grandchildren, Bobby Chrane, Zane Chrane, Paul Ferguson, Christi Hudspeth, Derek Chrane, John Wilkinson, Jennifer Bremmons, Steven Justin Ray, Jared Phillips and Blake Casper; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Chrane of Spring, Texas.
He was preceded in death by Laverne Chrane; a son, Chuck Chrane; and a granddaughter, Misty Dawn Phillips.
