Dunn case: Memphis lead invalid

COLORADO CITY — Investigators working on the disappearance of 13-year-old Hailey Darlene Dunn confirmed an recent out-of-state lead in the case was invalid, as the search for the girl continues into its fourth week.

According to Pete Kampfer, city manager and media liaison for the search, investigators were looking into a possible lead in the case in Memphis, Tenn. However, Kampfer confirmed this week the lead was determined to be invalid.

Authorities are also investigating if the Dunn case could be connected to a missing 15-year-old Lubbock girl that was found dead Monday.

The body of Elizabeth Ennen was discovered in northwest Lubbock County. Humberto Salinas Jr., the father of Elizabeth’s boyfriend, remained in the Lubbock County Jail on $250,000 bail for a first-degree aggravated kidnapping charge he received Friday in connection to Elizabeth’s disappearance. The 45-year-old, who had multiple charges for violent crimes in the past, could also face murder charges.

However, officials say they don't believe the two cases are connected at this time.
