Dwight Barton

Dwight Barton, 68, of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home with Nick Portocarrero officiating.

He was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Brownsboro, Texas, to Belle Pauline (Smith) Barton and Richard Alvin Barton. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in Vietnam. He was a math teacher in Kerrville, Odessa, Andrews and Big Spring school districts. He was a substitute teacher at Forsan.
He married Jean Pike on Dec. 21, 1993, in Odessa.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Barton of Big Spring; three sons, James Barton of Big Spring, Ricky Pike and wife Patricia of Round Rock and Mickey Pike and wife Kimberly of Odessa; three daughters, Susanna Fisher, Terah Haney of Tyler and Donna Lummus of Milano; one sister, Yvonne Fortner and husband Joe of Houston; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
