Ed Harvell

Ed Harvell, 65, of Canyon died Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Services were held Wednesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery. Military honors were provided by DAV Chapter 26.

Ed was born Nov. 20, 1948, in Big Spring to Thomas and Elsie Harvell. He graduated from Coahoma High School and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended West Texas State University, where he received his degree in music education. Ed married Sharon Allen on Aug. 13, 1970, in Canyon.

Ed was a music educator in Amarillo Independent School District for 10 years and was a member of Amarillo Symphony, where he played the bassoon. Ed was a member of the Randall County Sheriff's Posse and Randall County Search and Rescue.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two sons, Jeff Harvell and wife, Julie of Canyon and Jon Harvell and wife, Aslihan of Plano; a brother, David Harvell of South Texas; and five grandchildren.
