January 3, 2012

Big Spring Economic Development Corporation has been hard at work in the past year and has no plans of slowing down this year, according to its executive director.

“BSEDC has been effective in fulfilling our mission statement to assist, stimulate and enhance economic develoment in Big Spring,” Executive Director Terry Wegman said. “... to utilize its sales tax revenues to increase the job opportunities available to the citizens by assisting the expansion of local businesses and attracting new businesses activities.”

In the past year, BSEDC had a hand in helping John Crane Production Solutions bring in an additional 24 jobs and retain 102 positions; CeRam-Kote bring in an additional 14 jobs while retaining the same amount; and Desert Tanks in bringing in an additional 38 jobs while retaining 17 positions.

“Each company provided more than a million in capital investment for the expansion projects and each are progressing better than projected,” Wegman said.
