EDC slated for change in regime

October 17, 2011

A change of guard will take place when the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation holds its monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in the chamber of commerce board room.
“On top of our routine business, we will be installing two new members and go through the election of officers,” said Terry Wegman, BSEDC executive director. Incoming board members Scott MacKenzie, an officer at Americ an State Bank, and Jim DePauw, a CPA and Howard College professor, will be installed. Outgoing members Larry McLellan and Glenn Fillingim will be recognized and board elections will be held.
The president will also appoint committee chairs for industry attraction and recruitment, industry retention and expansion and workforce development.
During the meeting, the board will consider a request from Leading EDG — previously known as Entrepreneur Alliance — to enter into a new contractual agreement under the new name for small business consulting services. A representative of Howard College will also deliver a quarterly update for workforce training.
Other items on the agenda include:
• consideration of engagement letter from Wilton, Newburry, Heidel, Leonard and Horton, CPAs, for the 2010-11 audit.
• approval of contract for employment with the executive director.
