Edith P. Boyd-Gary, 88, of Big Spring, went to join her Lord on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Derrick Looney, pastor of Spring Creek Fellowship, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
She was born on May 8, 1923, in Waco, Texas.
She is survived by three sons, Ira (Skipper) Boyd and wife Tonya, Marvin Richard Boyd and wife Shirley and Martin Richard Boyd, all of Big Spring; one brother, Fulton Lewis Goode of Killeen; eight grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; and a host of friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Boyd in 1971 and Louis Gary in 1987; three sons, Sam Rutlin Boyd in 1948, David Dean Boyd in 1949, and Jackie Lynn Boyd in 1956; a daughter, Malinda Beth Boyd-Feek in 2009; two sisters, Lois Ruth Brown in 1960 and Margie Lee Lethco in 1996; two brothers, Langston David Goode in 2004 and Bobby Gene Goode in 1997; and a grand daughter, Melinda Ann Boyd in 2005.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Boyd, Gary Boyd, Shawn Boyd, Waylon Boyd, Lewis Goode and Gene Goode.
