Edna M. Hughes

Edna M. Hughes, 78, of Big Spring died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Billy Guy officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 15, 1934, in Graham, Texas, and married Glen Hughes on Nov. 28, 1968, in El Paso, Texas.

Edna attended Big Spring schools. She owned and operated A Little Extra Boutique and was co-owner of Glen Hughes Construction and West Texas Dolphin Pools. She had served on the board of directors at the YMCA and was a member of Full Gospel Fellowship Church and was extremely active in church activities. Edna loved being a mom and grandmom.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Hughes of Big Spring; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Andy Coots and Debbie and Stanley Gregory, all of Big Spring; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Rutherford of Austin and Robert and Audra Hughes of Frisco; 10 grandchildren, Becki and Mike Holt, James S. Coots, Will and Heather Rutherford, Laura and Hal Dunbar, Lori and Eddie Gonzales, Jason and Stephanie Mundell, Shelly and Gab Stone, Josh and Hilary Hughes, Amanda Hughes and Megan Hughes; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Geneva Fay West.
