Edward Cruz, 96, of Big Spring died Friday, July 19, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Kerrville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born November 22, 1916, in Brownsville, Texas. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force through World War II, where he was an ace gunner on a B-25 strafer in Korea and in Vietnam. He retired as a master sergeant in 1971 with 30 years of service. After retirement Ed served his community of Big Spring for years as a volunteer until his wife became homebound.
Ed is survived by two children, a son, F. Edward Cruz and wife Jean and a daughter, Marie Christine Jones; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and three wives.
